#sustainability a concept that is very important and difficult to achieve. Special attention must be given to #manufacturing sustainability because according to #European Environment Agency 21% of the total material wastes are coming from the manufacturing domain.
But when people are asked what is #sustainability their immediate response is "is a concept about the #environment ". This is partially correct, actually is 1/3 of the #sustainability truth. #sustainability is a multi-criteria approach and has a goal to perform well in three domains at the same time #economic , #environmental and #social. In other words these three pillars of sustainability must be in balance in order for a process to be #sustainable.
More specifically, #sustainablemanufacturing is the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes that #minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. #sustainablemanufacturing also enhances #employee, #community and #productsafety.
Traditional #qualitymanagementsystem cannot achieve the levels of #sustainability that Zero Defect manufacturing can achieve (#zdm). Therefore, #manufacturers must understand that the adoption of #zdm is for their benefit. If this happens then #sustainablemanufacturing is an achievable goal.
