Yesterday was the first #lecture to future #engineers, a new #collaboration with Prof. Yvonne Lagrosen of #Mälardalens #university in Sweeden. The lecture was about #QualityManagementSystems and how they are key for the success of #manufacturing companies. More specifically, the students were introduced to the #traditional #qualityImproovment methods such as, #SixSigma, #Lean, #LeanSixSigma, #TheoryOfConstrains and #TotalQualityManagement were explained and their weaknesses were presented. Additionally, #ZeroDefectManufacturing (#ZDM) was presented as an alternative solution which is not an entirely new method but a #toolbox having all the good practicies of the traditional quality improvement methods but also includes #advanced technologies and methods coming from #Industry4. To this extend students were introduced to #Industry4 concept, the #enabling technologies were explained and analysed in a theoretical and practical ways. More specifically, #IoT, #MachineLearning, #DigitalTwin, #CyberPhysicalSystems were discussed and many examples were given of how such technologies can help improve production #quality. Finally, the notion of #sustainability was explained in order for the students to have a clear understanding that #sustainability is not only about the #evironment or the #economy, but about #economy, #environment and #society at the same time and not individually.
